This should be a no brainer for every business, but businesses struggle with this decision every year. Should I thank my customers and show appreciation for how they supported my business. all year long. My valuable employees, who have worked hard all year long to meet customer expectations – do I need to thank them as well. You hear all the time…. Successful businesses rely on personal relationships with customers. It is that relationship which drives business. They advertise they want customers to feel comfortable, to ask for solutions to their problems. Companies work hard to be close and responsive to customers to build and strengthen those personal relationships. So, when the customer does all this, are they rewarded, recognized? Doesn't everyone like to be appreciated? And when we are, don't we all feel closer to that business, that relationship. Think about this… Who are your competitors’ best prospects? You guessed right, your top clients. Your "A" level clients you count on for your business success. I ask clients, who are you targeting to grow your business? I bet it is your preferred clients. Here is a business growth opportunity: Send a holiday gift introducing your business to warm up the relationship so when you make the sales call in January, you have a starting point to build rapport which in turn creates a business opportunity. So, let’s be honest…. Sending a food gift tower or any type of gift does not guarantee new business. On the other hand, your goal here is to build connections’, to create a working relationship with clients and prospective clients. To create the atmosphere and the opportunity for new business. Think how you feel when a gift is delivered and your impression of the sender. Are you inclined to return their call and listen to them? Do you feel positive? Something to consider: What is the right gift to send that will accomplish what we discussed above. There is not an easy answer. Who is the gift targeted for, quantity, budget, lead time, home or office, employee or client, prospect or current customer, message you want to send, packaging, to name a few or the considerations. To answer the question you need to talk with some who can share with you the available options that will impress your audience. One opportunity that I think should be taken advantage of is personalization. When you place a person's name on their gift, its not only appreciated, but they recognize you went out of your way to do something special for them. This creates a greater impact on the recipient which is the goal of the gift in the first place. Words of caution…. Don’t wait to order. Delivery and stock issues may reduce your options. Your preferred color, size, name brand, quantity will be limited the longer you put off the decision. Work with a professional to determine what would be appropriate and what is possible to avoid the headaches of the last minute rush. Here is wishing you a great and headache free holiday season.
