So, the COVID-19 has been affecting our lives for the last 40 days or so. Employees are working from home or they had to be laid off with the intent of bringing them back when businesses can open up again. Communications with customers in the normal course of business has ceased and they are left wondering how you are doing. Now what to we do the is the question. As mentioned above we have two main audiences, our employees and our customers. We don't want to lose either one due to lack of touching base with them. Staying in contact is key and saying we care about you, we want to help you, and how can we help you. I believe you have to take the initiative and communicate with these audiences. Show them you care and since we cannot meet with them directly we can send them a promotional message they will remember now and in the months ahead. Here are two suggestions on what to do.... Employees, are either at home or working in the office... Provide them with tools they can use to do their jobs or make life easier. Improve their environment at home. You may have employees who are laid off and are not able to or allowed to be at work. Think about making home more of a fun space....pillows, games, school tools, exercise equipment or encouragement. Customers - Think about ways to connect with them and to make their lives easier. Could be an office or a home item or an item directed for the family life at home since everyone is home bound. If you noticed, I did not create a long list of promotional items, like mugs, or shirts or exercise equipment or office products. I didn't for two reasons: 1) Every promotion is different and together we have to decide what is your message and which items will convey that message.. And 2) and more important: My goal in communicating with these audiences is to do three things: 1) Engage the audience. 2) Uplift and motivate them. 3) Create Action. Until we talk, I don't know the direction you would like to go. I have a lot of ideas I would like to share with you. How do we communicate our message. This can be done by a complete promotion (direct mail, emails, radio, TV LinkedIn, Facebook advertising and a promotional item) that has a goal, a message, an outcome, a theme that are all tied together. So, when the audience receives the package, they understand your message be it you care, you appreciate them and you are thinking of them. Or it could be your own unique message you want them to know. I can assist you with all aspects of the promotion. To helping with the ideas, the message, the promotional item, artwork, the packaging, the mailing to bring it all together. Now is the time to be thinking of what to do now.
